The uniqueness of Fancade lies in the Build tab, which serves as a section to create, edit and upload games within the app.
For starters, video tutorials are recommended. Using kits and tinkering them is a great option too. Once experienced enough, take a look at Basics of scripting and create possibly amazing games and demos!
Opening games in this section is mostly the same as in Arcade with a few notable differences:
- The Play button is replaced with the Edit button.
- For every level Edit is accompanied beside the Play button to the left.
- There are always five buttons at the bottom. In particular, the Edit button is always hidden.
Tapping the edit button copies the game to Projects section. The exception is Projects which is documented in the following section.
Projects
These contain games that have been edited, sorted in most recent order. This is not visible when no projects have been edited.
There are many versatile options upon opening a game. First, the game's Title and Description can now be changed by tapping on them respectively. At most 16 and 140 characters can be respectively written.
The game's box art can be set as well, through two methods: by tapping on the game cover next to the description, and by tapping on the cover of a level, initiating a camera as the game plays.
Buttons on this section are as follows:
- Back closes the game. Alternatively, tapping outside the game works.
- Copy copies the game. It is useful for backups.
- Publish either uploads or updates the game. A Fancade account must be required to do so; it redirects to the You section when not logged in.
- When signed in, an upload status, three editing options and three buttons for publishing are displayed.
- These are the three editing options.
- None prohibits editing the game.
- Levels allows editing the game, but opening custom blocks in this game are disallowed.
- All allows editing the game. Recommended when making kits or scripts.
- Remove deletes the game. The game asks whether to proceed.
- Share shares the game link, providing one if it does not exist.
When there are no levels, as such when making a new game, pressing the button below the title creates a level.
When editing a level, there are two buttons beneath the floppy disk: the edit button initiates the editor, where level layout and scripting takes place, and the play button plays the game normally.
Following buttons at the bottom are shown:
- Back closes the game.
- Copy copies the level, inserting at the next level and selecting it.
- Remove erases the level. Likewise, this is prompted with a confirmation.
- Up and Down moves the currently selected level respectively by one step. Note changing the first level leads to automatically changing the game's box art, choosing the first level's cover.
Games
These contain user-friendly kits provided by creators! It is the easiest way to create a game.
Blocks
These contain useful script blocks, and blocks from other creators.
Create
- New Game inserts a blank game of a light-blue background into the list of projects with a random two-word name, possibly for inspiration.
- Discord redirects to the Discord link of the Fancade server.
- Help redirects to https://www.fancade.com/help/.
- Collect collects gems accumulated from your shop-based games.
- Export zips the entirety of games in the Projects section and prompts to save the file location.
- Import loads a zip containing Fancade games. This is not visible in the web version - instead, a file must be dragged inside.
