History

2017-2020: Early access

2020-present: Release

The game was published on Google Play and App Store on April 29, 2020. Shortly, the game was featured on stores, firstly by App Store not a day after, then Google Play around May 8, 2020. A month later, on June, Google Play issued another feature as game of the month in 14 regions:

Fancade is where “fans” and the “arcade” meet, it’s a celebration of retro arcade games where fun is the primary goal. “Quest” mode offers a wide variety of games, from a physics-based stunt car to spatial puzzles involving a stretchy cat, plus a spot of golf on the side. Fancade’s real genius can be found in its “Arcade” mode, filled with user-generated content. If a near-limitless library of games doesn’t appeal, you can build and share your own experiences thanks to incredibly powerful game creation and sharing tools.

Martin Magni reported at least 10,000 published games on May 26, 2020.

Version 1.1.2 was released on Android on July 18, 2020, adding 5 new worlds. The iOS version was released ten days later with a compromise: users are restricted to only select games, possibly due to App Store guidelines on user-generated content. Despite this problem, it was featured again as game of the day on August 17, 2020.

Continuous updates added 5 new worlds. Version 1.2.6 included an in-built search function and advanced debugging for inspecting variables.

The game won Google Play Awards as Best Innovative (archive) on November 18, 2020.

On September 22, 2021, Fancade for PC was released.
