Monster Tracks is a driving game by Martin Magni. It is one of the 3 starting games found in the Battle mode.

How to Play

Tap on the sides of the screen to control the car. Get as far as you can, and collect the yellow coins!

Game over is triggered by either drowning in a body of water, hitting the monster truck against the ground/obstacles, or by being stuck on an obstacle and trying to accelerate or reverse (which causes the monster truck to smoke up and explode).

Obstacles

Spline bridge -This obstacle is the easiest one to cross over a body of water; it is impossible to drown. The spline bridge buckles under the weight of your monster truck, and with high velocity, can lead to the monster truck flipping forwards.

Pebbles - Little rock cubes scattered throughout the course, they can be dangerous when either approached at high velocity, or when encountered at a steep incline or decline.

Tree log - Logs of trees scattered throughout the course, can prove challenging at steep inclines or declines.

Cube - A cube inside a body of water which rotates counter-clockwise. This is highly drownable as there are gaps both in front of, and behind the cube. Very dangerous at low speeds.

Hollow Ramp - A hollow wooden ramp which is present over grass. The inclination varies, thus some of these ramps will be more difficult than others. Difficulty is usually exacerbated by high elevation changes, and is most dangerous in steep descents.

Windmill - A rotating windmill structure rotating clockwise. This is moderately drownable, with the rear end of the windmill becoming more challenging as the terrain becomes more hilly. You must move to the adjacent windmill blade to avoid collision.

Ramp - A wooden, filled ramp which precedes a body of water. This is an obstacle that requires you to jump over a body of water. The inclination of the ramp varies, and with that, the danger of drowning also.

Terrain - While not an explicit obstacle, the terrain becomes more hilly and rugged as you go on. Thus, not only is it more easy to flip or get stuck, but the other obstacles and be also made more difficult.

Shop System

Power - Increases the speed and torque of the monster truck. Thus you can go faster, and also accelerate quicker. Upgrades start at 10 coins, and then double until the final upgrade of 5120 coins.

Grip - Improves the drivertrain of the monster truck allowing for decreased wheelspin, and better acceleration. This is helpful in tight situations or climbing uphill. Upgrades start at 10 coins, and then double until the final upgrade of 5120 coins.

Weight - Reduces the weight of the car, which allows for more manoeuvrability in the air. Upgrades start at 10 coins, and then double until the final upgrade of 5120 coins.

Strategy

  • Unlike most hill climb style games, Monster Tracks only allows aerial movement in one direction. Thus you must be careful about how much power you provide before you jump.
  • Do not apply too much power to the monster truck as it will arch backwards, particularly at the start. You usually want to maintain a slight backwards tilt as most obstacles will propel you forwards.
  • Sometimes, slower is better, particularly in later stages. However some obstacles (particularly ramps) require high speed. Remember that you can reverse to a small extent, allowing for a run-up and a build-up of speed.
